Petticoat Row Founders

Darya Afshari

Darya has 13 years of experience in the beauty industry and a strong foundation, having started as young as 13 years old. Her interest in her field was influenced by her uncles and aunts, all of whom owned hair salons/spas throughout Darya’s childhood. Additionally, her father and mother have strong and successful businesses, and they encouraged her from a young age to work for herself. After moving to the island in 2002, she started her adventure with RJ Miller Salon seasonally before she decided to make Nantucket her home. In the spring of 2007, Darya opened the doors to her own salon & spa. Darya’s Salon & Spa is currently located at 34 Centre Street. Darya and her colleagues believe in staying current with beauty trends and strengthening the core knowledge of fundamental beauty techniques.

Petticoat Row is in its 4th year as an organization whose sole purpose is to connect and celebrate women’s ideas and adventures in business. This encouraging association has given Darya the strength to always believe in her ideas, and she hopes it will encourage you in the same way.

Jessica Gage

Jessica grew up in Northern Vermont, and after obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of Vermont, she went on to complete her Doctorate of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. Jessica practiced in Vermont for several years before marrying her husband, Michael Day, and moving to Nantucket, his hometown.

Jessica has developed a profound love for the island, its history and community. A founding member of Petticoat Row, she very much enjoys the connections and relationships she has made through the organization. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys golfing, pilates, reading and spending time at the beach with Michael, their new daughter, Zoli and two labs, Murphy and Juneau. Jessica hopes to open her own Optometry office on Nantucket in the near future.

Rebecca Mailloux

Originally from Woodbridge, Connecticut, Rebecca Mailloux became fast friends with Nantucket during a summer spent on the island while in college. After graduating from Castleton College of Vermont in 2004 with a BS in Journalism and Art History, she immediately moved to Nantucket full time.

Currently, Becky owns Nantucket’s largest baby equipment rental company, Petite Travelers, and has continued to build-on and grow the business every year since launching in 2009. She feels incredibly rewarded by making parents and caregivers comfortable while traveling with their little ones. The company prides itself on customer service and the abundance of repeat business year after year. Both have been paramount to the success of Petite Travelers. Becky recently sold Nantucket’s only gift basket company and entered into the world of Nantucket real estate with J Pepper Frazier Real Estate Company. She also has taught piano to many island families since 2008.

Mai Norton

Originally from a small coastal summer town in Rhode Island, Mai Norton has never spent a summer away from the Atlantic Ocean. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Major in Political Science and Russian History. Mai moved to the island full-time in 2002. In addition to her well-rounded experience in Nantucket real estate, she is involved in the community, is a founding member of Petticoat Row of Nantucket, and is a professional photographer.

When she is not helping her clients find the perfect home or rental, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Aaron, a contractor and builder who has operated a successful business on Nantucket for 15 years. Mai and Aaron have two wonderful young boys Elias and Isaac, who always keep everything in life exciting and fun. Mai enjoys morning runs, being out on the water, and traveling in the off-season.

Pam Diem Willis

Pamela Diem Willis started her career in New York as an actress after earning a BFA in acting from Tisch School of the Arts and an MFA in acting from the American Repertory Theater at Harvard University. While studying and performing at Harvard, she met friend and colleague, Deb Knox, who inspired her to make jewelry while pursuing her career in the theatre. In 2005, Pam’s jewelry business, Little Miss Drama, was born, and in 2008, Pam opened her first store on Old South Wharf on Nantucket. The store thrives with Pam’s fantastic ability to create one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Each necklace, bracelet or pair of earrings is handmade by Pam herself, with a tremendous amount of care.

Pam lives on Nantucket during the summers with her husband, Chris, and their beautiful daughters, Augusta, born in 2009, and Roxanne, born in November 2011.

Jill Yeagy

Jill started her bookkeeping career working for the family business in Pennsylvania. She studied at Harrisburg Area Community College before moving to Nantucket in 1995. Prior to opening her own business, she spent four years working exclusively for M and D Restaurant Group, where she was responsible for all office operations, bookkeeping, and payroll for four restaurants. Following that, she managed a bookkeeping firm, gaining diversified-industry bookkeeping experience which eventually led to the creation of Jill Yeagy Bookkeeping in May of 2007. She is actively involved in the Nantucket community: Petticoat Row, Nantucket S.T.A.R. Program, Nantucket Builders Association, and Nantucket Chamber of Commerce. She is also a member of the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers, National Association of Certified Public Bookkeepers, National Bookkeepers Association, and National Association of Professional Women.

In her spare time, Jill enjoys watching Penn State football, volunteering for her favorite charities, and spending time with her cats, Cosmo and Joey.
